Policy
The British School New Delhi admissions method is very clearly guided by an Admissions Policy , which is studied from time to time to join changing global requirements. The Admissions Policy accepted by the Leading Board in May 2011 will govern all admissions.The main workings of the Admissions Policy are mentioned below:
Admission is based on
a. The admissions categories and
b. The ability of candidates to prove that they can match the international appeal of The British School New Delhi student population and advantage from the education providing by The British School. This is assessed by the school through an evaluation process which includes written evaluation, face to face interview and reports (moot and all other relevant reports contingent on the year group and the programme applied for) from the preceding school (where appropriate).
c. Fluency in English. As our medium of teaching is English candidates must show ease in English or the ability to obtain fluency speedily so this does not influence upon their studies. Please also see the EAL section below.
Admission prioritizations:
1. Partnerships:
The British School New Delhi welcomes companies with corporate organizations, political missions and other entities, providing they are in the school’s goods, are consistent with the Indian legal and controlling environment and the school’s aims, values and mission. These may result in The British School New Delhi donation priority in admission to students of staffs of such partners. Approval of such companies requires the Board of Governors to approve start of discussions including the outline of the content of the planned contract with the latent partner(s) and must be accepted by the Board of Governors previous to incoming into such contracts. While all students complex in such agreements will follow the regular The British School New Delhi admission policy and principles, guaranteed admission will be defendant on whether we have adequate space in any class.
2. Siblings
We give favorite to siblings of students already registered in The British School New Delhi. Because of our promise to keep families united in a single school, siblings of current students move to the top of their own category.
3. Alumni
The British School New Delhi We give special thought to the children of alumni at the time of admission. All applications of the children of alumni will move ahead of all other applications in their respective category nevertheless will be lower than siblings.
4. Children of teaching staff
The children of teachers will be guaranteed admission as long as it is supposed that The British School New Delhi can meet their specific needs, and all other admissions standards are met fully. This is to promote the staffing and retention of suitably skilled staff. Such admissions are to be agreed by the Director prior to ratification the contract of employ.
Admission categories
The British School New Delhi priorities admission applications as follows:
Category 1 – children of school staff, business partners, foreign employees of the British High Directive, The British Council, and DFID, The British School New Delhi passport holders - prioritized in the same order.
Category 2 – children of non-British diplomats, counting children of Indian envois recurring from overseas.
Category 3 – children of all non-British distant nationals moving to India for a secure term / long term assignment.
Category 4 – children of alumni of The British School New Delhi who have not been recognized in any of the above categories.
Category 5 – children whose previous school has brought a British style education for at least two out of the previous three academic years.
Category 6 – All other children who have not been recognized in any of the overhead categories.
