The British School New Delhi As an international, multicultural school, we welcome students whose mother language is not English, and we bring support to help them control to mainstream learning. All students spreading for admission to the school are obligatory to take the formal and informal estimates set by the school.The British School New Delhi resolution of an initial valuation is to classify a student’s need for EAL provision, precisely:
• A student’s current level of English ability; and
• The degree and range of English services needed, counting a reference from the class teacher forthe type and strength of in-class/across the curriculum support required.
The British School New Delhi valuation comprises of:
• Oral interaction;
• Aural comprehension;
• Word usage;
• reading comprehension of graded text;
• And a written arrangement to provide the student with an chance to validate an ability to use language appropriately in an open-ended situation.
The British School New Delhi optional screening procedure includes measuring the student’s academic history and implementation the Language Survey Form. From July 2010 a separate EAL entrance paper for Key Stage 3 has been obtainable for students seeking charge who have not knowledgeable English as the average of teaching. For existing students, language skill is also assessed by response given by subject teachers on the EAL Presentation ‘Check Form’
